Race Classes

Racers at Binona primarily drive among the 1/8 Nitro Off-Road Buggy and Truggies, and 1/10 Nitro and Electric On-Road Touring Car classes.

The below list outlines a synopsis of the class and link to the iFMAR rules for each class, we do our best to comply with.

On-Road Classes

General Specifications for Electric classes

Motors:Blinky classes permit only the following zero timing motors are permitted for use and will be reviewed and sealed by race administration in advance of the race:

Permitted motors:

– Hobbywing Justock-3650SD 13.5T G2.1 (30408010)
– Hobbywing Justock-3650SD 17.5T G2.1(30408011)

Permitted legacy options:
– Hobbywing Justock -3650SD-13.5T G2 (30408005)
– Hobbywing Justock -3650SD-17.5T G2 (30408005)


The motor used in race must be reviewed by Race Admin in advance of race and will be sealed.

Boosted/Modified class:

For boosted/modified classes the motor choice is open, as long as it specifically outlines the correct number of turns on the motor specified per class. I.e.. 13.5T.
 
Class specifications below outline which motor is to be used. 

Important: The mentioned motors can be purchased from any supplier, as long as they are handed over for testing and sealing prior to race. 
Electronics:ESCs (Speed Controllers)

For all blinky classes must state in manual it supports blinky class. 
Batteries:Any Lithium-Polymer (Li-Po) 2s battery may be used.Max Batt Voltage: 8.40v (high voltage charging is prohibited and will be checked in pre-race tech). 
Body:
All Classes 

– Car bodies  must be painted and must be cut along the moulded trim lines.
– Removing material beyond/above the trim line is prohibited.
– Leaving extra material below the trim lines of the body is also prohibited.
– You are not allowed to create extra vent holes for the purpose of ventilation or performance enhancement.
– All car bodies must use the wings that are supplied in the.Mixing and matching the included ABS plastic wings, between different body styles, is prohibited.

Specific to class
– Body dimensions and styles permitted per class below according to each class.
Gearing:For each of the Touring Car classes we provide an FDR recommendation. This recommendation is provide guidance. 
Tires:
Handout Tires must be used on race day as specified by race administration. 

Tires will be provided against fee on Race Day. A limit is set per race and class on how many can be purchased and used across race day. 
Weight:The total weight of the car is specified for each class. Total weight includes the car with body, clips, electronics, wheels, wheel nuts, and battery.It is permitted to fix led or brass weights to add additional weight to meet weight specification.

1/10 electric Touring Car 13.5T blinky

Chassis:Any 4wd 1/10 electric touring car specified chassis
Body:190mm – 4 door touring car body with original wing provided
Motor:13.5T Brushless Motor (from approved list)
ESC:Blinky ESC (Zero Timing)
Battery:2S Lipo at max Max Batt Voltage: 8.40v
Gearing:An FDR of 4-4.5 is recommended although not mandatory
Tires:Handout Tires will be provided on race day  (Max 2 set of tyres per event) Tire warmers are not permitted.
Min Weight:1320 gr

1/10 Electric 4WD Touring Car – 13.5T Boosted/Modified

Chassis:Any 4wd 1/10 electric touring car specified chassis
Body:190mm – 4 door touring car body with original wing provided
Motor:Any 13.5T Brushless Motor 
ESC:Can be set outside of Blinky mode 
Battery:2S Lipo at max Max Batt Voltage: 8.40v
Gearing:Open 
Tires:Handout Tires will be provided on race day Max 3 set of tyres per eventTire warmers are not permitted.

1/10 Electric 4WD  Mini Touring Car – 17.5T Blinky 

Chassis:Any 4wd 1/10 electric Mini Touring car specified chassis with 210mm Wheelbase 
Body:210mm – 4 door touring car body with original wing provided
Motor:17.5T Brushless Motor (from approved list)
ESC:Blinky ESC (Zero Timing)
Battery:2S Lipo at max Max Batt Voltage: 8.40v
Gearing:An FDR of 4-4.5 is recommended although not mandatory 
Tires:Handout Tires will be provided on race day  Max 2 set of tyres per event Tire warmers are not permitted.
Min Weight:1320 gr

Tamiya M-Chassis 2WD – 17.5T Blinky 

Chassis:Chassis: M-07, M-08. Older platforms may be used, but will be at a gear ratio disadvantageAny Hop-Up Option and spare part is allowed and legal as long as it is used in the way it was designed, and installed on the vehicle it was designed for.It is strictly forbidden to re-engineer or modify stock or Hop-Up-Options parts.Lightweight screws and adjustable turnbuckles that are made of aluminum, steel or Titanium made by other manufacturers are permitted.You may alter the car in any way called out in the “car instruction manual” or “chassis setting sheet”. If the “chassis setting sheet” calls out the adjustment, then it’s legal to make the change to your car.Any manufactured ball bearing may be used as a Hop-Up.
Body:For Tamiya M-Chassis the body should be a reasonable scale representation of any existing ‘B/C-Segment front-wheel drive sedan/hatchback or wagon. I.e.. Hyper-M body will be prohibitedInformation on B-Segment and C-Segment cars can be found here

Gearing:Gearing: To create an equal speed between all M-Chassis models the max pinion size is 20T (included in box with the m07R).

Tires:Any rubber tire/wheel designed specifically for 1/8 buggy racing.

1/8 Electric Buggy

Chassis:Any 1/8th electric buggy specific chassis, nitro to electric converted chassis or eBuggy Lite chassisAny 1/8th electric buggy specific chassis, nitro to electric converted chassis or eBuggy Lite chassis
